Women’s Adventure Tour in Sedona

Often described as the most beautiful town in America, Sedona is also a wonderful place to play. With the outdoors right at our doorstep, we’ll hike the trails affording the most spectacular views at the most advantageous time of day. Our week will include a collection of easy and moderate hikes and a massage to pamper any overworked muscles. We’ll visit Sedona’s vortexes and learn an appreciation of what they’re all about. We’ll take a wild jeep ride across the red rocks of Sedona on the Broken Arrow trail.. so much fun! There aren’t many small towns that have such a vast collection of good restaurants and we’ll take full advantage. While still an active trip, this is a more relaxed pace than most Canyon Calling itineraries, and yes there is time for shopping and perhaps time spent with a psychic reader if you choose (at guest’s expense). Come fall in love with Sedona! This is an unpack once and chill trip.

Sedona Sojourn Itinerary

Day 1

Your guide will meet you at 3pm at the Phoenix to Sedona shuttle drop-off point in Sedona and check in to our hotel. Our introductory hike to Chimney Rock is rated easy/moderate and is a phenomenal natural wonder. Enjoy the fabulous view of Coffee Pot Rock, among many other beautiful red rock formations. We’re off to our welcome dinner at one of the many excellent Sedona restaurants.

Wow…I don’t know where to start. Sedona Sojourn exceeded my expectations in a huge and powerful way. Everything was perfect, right down to the smallest of details…our beautiful hotel with breathtaking views, the planned tours and restaurants were all excellent, exciting and unique. I must say YOU are the one that transformed an already wonderful trip into a life changing, inspiring journey that will stay with me forever. It was obvious how much you cared about our comfort, pleasure and safety…not to mention your deep knowledge, love and reverence of Sedona and the surrounding areas. My experience was amazing, awakening and oh so profound. Add our extreme joy and outbursts of laughter to the mix, and we have the ultimate ‘it’s a girl thing’experience!!!! I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard!

Day 2

Oak Creek Canyon is considered one of the top ten drives in America. After breakfast this morning, we’ll explore this canyon and learn of the pioneers who made this their home with stops for a hike on West Fork Trail. The West Fork Trail of Oak Creek Canyon has been called one of the best trails in Coconino National Forest and one of the top ten trails in the United States. The scenery is stunning. Next we’ll make a stop to explore Slide Rock State Park. If you’re brave, you have the option to “ride” the famous slide rock water chute. It can be chilly in the water in December, so only the intrepid will attempt this. On the way back to Sedona, we’ll lunch at the best local organic sandwich/soup/salad shop amidst the canyon and gardens. After lunch, we’ll have time to explore the great shops in Uptown Sedona. There’s plenty to see and do in this small area. It’s back to the hotel to chill a bit before another wonderful dinner.

Day 3

After breakfast, we will head out on a fantastic jeep tour of the Red Rocks on the Broken Arrow trail. You’ll be amazed how these jeeps climb the rocks! Spectacular views abound and this is a photographer’s dream! Next, we’ll visit the Amitabha Stupa and Peace Park, a storied spiritual oasis and park deemed holy by native people. The Buddhist stupa is an outdoor venue for prayer, meditation, and spiritual renewal for people of all faiths. Sitting majestically on 14 acres among the pinion and juniper pines, and surrounded by a landscape of stunning crimson spires, it is a jewel to behold. After lunch, renewed and refreshed, we are off to the village of Jerome, formally the largest copper mine in Arizona and the wickedest town in the west! Today it’s an enchanting artist community and a fun place to wander and shop. Maybe a walk up to the haunted Grand Hotel, and a visit to the Asylum will interest you? On the way back to Sedona, we’ll hike up a short trail to enjoy a favorite Vortex. Vortices are believed to be powerful earth energy centers. Let’s see if you feel the energy that Sedona is famous for! Dinner in Sedona at yes, another great restaurant.

I can’t believe I stood fearless, high in the canyon, free, laughing, with eight extraordinary loving women.
— Kathy C, NY

Day 4

After breakfast,we’ll stop to pick up our picnic lunch at the local grocer. Then we’re off to visit a recognized Sedona vortex site, the Chapel of the Holy Cross, an amazing blend of sculpture and architecture sprouting right out of the red rocks. The serenity inside this church is as splendid as the views from outside. Next we’ll hike Bell Rock and the Courthouse Butte Loop, one of the most famous hikes in Sedona for both vacationers and locals alike. This easy/moderate trail takes us on a scenic journey of the red rocks with panoramic views that can’t be beat. Bell Rock is another major vortex and we’ll find a lovely spot for meditation. We’ll have stopped for crystals by now (it’s a thing) and we’ll energize/re-energize them during our lunch stop on the trail. After this amazing hike, we’ll head back to the hotel to get showered. You deserve a treat so we’ll go to the spa! Spa treatments are arranged for you this afternoon… it puts the ahhh in Sedona. We’ll dine this evening at another favorite local spot or if we’re too lazy from our massages, perhaps Famous pizza by the pool at our hotel. So yummy!

Day 5

After a sleep-in and breakfast, we’ll pick up a picnic lunch and walk a short trail that swings down by Oak Creek, Crescent Moon Ranch, and the fabled Red Rock Crossing, where the best photos of Cathedral Rock are taken. There’s time to relax and sun ourselves on the red rocks and enjoy the creek. We’ll build a cairn perhaps, explore some more, then picnic lunch at the Red Rock Crossing. We’ll head back into town to explore the wonderful arts and crafts village of Tlaquepaque. With more than 40 galleries displaying every type of art imaginable, Sedona is a premier destination for art lovers from around the world – find the art lover in you! This afternoon you also have time to consult a psychic if you choose (at guest’s expense). After all, we’re in Sedona! We’ll enjoy our Farewell dinner at one of the great Sedona restaurants with a stunning view, celebrating each other and this special time together as the sun sets on the red rocks.

I learned I could do things I never would have attempted without the power of the group and our exceptional leader.
