Let’s Talk Quality
Canyon Calling designs and leads multi-activity adventure trips for moderately fit women to some of the most beautiful places in the world. Here’s what you can expect:
We choose clean, modern, comfortable lodging with an average of three stars, sometimes four star ratings. We offer brand name hotels but also include historic places like Old Faithful Inn, Colter Bay Cabins and other cabins in the National Parks. On some of our tours we include homestays and guesthouses, and always have a place to relax and absorb the spirit of a region and to immerse ourselves in local culture. Sometimes we stay in a spa resort! Your specific trip accommodations list is provided in advance so you know where we’ll be staying and have their contact information.
We eat very well – mostly in restaurants where you’re welcome to order an entree on the menu and a non-alcoholic drink. (To be clear, you’re welcome of course to order alcohol however it’s not covered in the tour cost.) As a standard, we skip appetizers and desserts but have been known to stop for an ice cream. We’ve had guests state how surprised they were at the gourmet food on our trips. And, of course when we experience international home stays, we will enjoy the tasty, local dishes.
Our first concern is safety. There are many different ways to raft a river, walk a glacier or to lead a horse ride. The outfitters we choose are the best in the region, the most safety oriented, totally familiar with all local conditions and are certified and licensed. Their guides are fully trained, experienced and terrific fun. Often the same guide works with Canyon Calling groups every year. They know the pace that works well for our groups and work especially hard to ensure that our guests are comfortable and are having an excellent adventure.
The last thing a Canyon Calling guest wants, is to feel like she’s on a bus tour! Therefore, twelve is our limit on any trip and most of our groups are eight to ten. We want everyone to feel special and attended to, and we’ve found that these numbers work well for everyone.
No Age Restrictions
Women of all ages are welcome (18+). One of the best things about our trips is the multi-generational sharing that takes place, so we encourage all ages to participate. With that said, our average age represents well the Baby Boomer generation.
A well-planned adventure trip should have high-energy experiences followed by the chance to rest. We often schedule an activity earlier in the day and then travel to a new location in the afternoon. We carve out time for shopping or exploring on your own on the occasions when we are in towns.
No Annoying Extras
At Canyon Calling, we’re here to serve you and to make your vacation the best it can be. Our tours are all inclusive so you’re not reaching into your pockets for miscellaneous fees, tips, etc. There are no annual membership fees to receive Canyon Calling news and information, and we will work with you to the best possible outcome on necessary cancellations and/or applying fees to another trip.
Doing One Thing – Well!
Providing multi-activity adventure trips for women is what we’re all about. It’s hard to maintain a quality product by trying to be all things to all people – so that’s not us. With that said, we will lead private trips upon request for a group of women colleagues, your book club or tennis group, to the destinations on our Trip Calendar. Just give us a call!
