We're flying to Iceland tomorrow to raft, hike a glacier, soak in hot pools, ride the Icelandic horses and see puffins, whales and icebergs up close. The volcanic eruption caused us to cancel last year's trip so its great to be headed back there again.
On July 14th we'll change direction and fly to Alaska for our inaugural Midnight Sun trip. We'll raft, hike a glacier and horseback ride there as well in addition to kayaking, paddling an Alaskan canoe and journeying into Denali to see the wildlife.
We've made our Best of the West tour into an 8-day trip making it more affordable and requiring less vacation days.
A new logo is on the way and it will feature in our next Enewsletter in August. It will better reflect our multi-activity format and our worldwide destinations.
We're developing a couple of new domestic trips for 2012. One is a five day trip beginning in Phoenix and ending in Las Vegas so you'd buy two one-way airfares to participate in this trip which will include tubing, kayaking and hiking into the Havasu falls at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. The other trip in the planning stages is a week-long multi-adventure exploration of Idaho.
Notes from the Trail
Our new Southwest Highlights trip in May was a big hit and we were joined by an Australian (Deb) and a Canadian (Nola) in addition to Jan, Sue and Diane on her third trip with CCT. Nola is an acoustic guitarist with a sweet voice and she serenaded us after our final dinner - a real treat.
We had such a late spring here in the West that we woke to 3" of snow on the morning of our horseback ride in Bryce Canyon! It was a tad chilly at first but the snow made for especially fabulous photos.
Deb enjoyed her time on this tour so much that she stayed on for the Desert Mountain Escape trip. Again, the late spring meant unusual situations like walking our bikes through a snowbank on the Galloping Goose near Telluride - all part of the fun. We discovered a way to incorporate Mesa Verde National Park into our trip so that was a huge bonus and we will feature it on future Desert Mountain trips.
Sandy had traveled to Utah with another travel company for women but hiking was the only activity. She wanted to kayak, ride horses and float on the Colorado so she joined our Best of the West trip in June. Becky joined us on her fourth Canyon Calling trip and Lorraine on her first - she gave us many memorable laughs. Would you believe we had two Sheryl's from New Zealand on the same trip! It was a great time exploring the West and like all our tours, we were sad to see each other leave for home.
Our 2012 calendar will be online in August. Thanks for all the requests.
